Mid-Size Baffle for Optical Systems

Overview

This passive 5-section baffle is suitable for 12-16U CubeSat applications. The deployment is driven by a set of super elastic wires working in parallel.


The first baffle section is fixed at the base, whereas the following 4 sliding sections are displaced by the multiple engaging features between the moving elements. ​

  • Passive deployment with 4 super elastic wires​

  • 5 segments, 1 fixed and 4 moving elements​

  • Deployment length ≈160 mm​

  • Stowed height: ≈ 43 mm​

  • Saving Volume Ratio: 1:5 ​

  • Mass: ≈ 150 g​
